49. Rondevlei Nature Reserve
A 290 hectare (717 acre) protected area, including 278 plant species, 237 bird species, a network of footpaths, picnic area, two viewing towers, six bird hides, a museum and an auditorium.
Not bad considering the whole of New Zealand has 351 bird species (an area 92,000 times bigger).
